One of the first things to think about when planning to use raw materials is: Do you use it alone or blend it? Coffee could be enjoyed either blended, like Mocha, or straight, like Kilimanjaro. If you have a favorite coffee bean and want to enjoy its own unique flavor and goodness, by all means, don’t blend it. However, you do have the option of blending different types of beans to create something to your liking. You could also blend various coffee beans to maintain and stabilize quality and price. It's the same with cotton. If you want to create cotton with a stable quantity, quality, and price, you can blend various types to do so. But that does not mean that only blends are good and non-blended types are not. Of course, high quality is a prerequisite, but exactly how do we utilize the various characteristics of different varieties of cotton to their advantage? This is what we should be concerned about, and where we could show off our skills. Both coffee and cotton have different attributes depending on the variety and where it is produced. Even a single variety could have different characteristics depending on where it is grown. With cotton it depends on the region, variety, spinning mill... The combinations are infinite. And fun! Raw cotton passes through the hands of many to become threads, fabrics, and finally, clothes. It's a great story, but it’s not told very often. So here we will spin and weave the story of cotton.
