The MURATEC Symposium

In March, FC Planning toured the Murata Machinery (Muratec) Headquarters to learn about its spinning technology and the idea of holding this symposium came to be.

This roundtable-style discussion was planned with the idea of broadening the scope of manufacturing by gathering all users, both direct and indirect, of spinning technology, and to exchange views and opinions on the state of spinning technology today.

First of all, we discussed what kind of machines Muratec is making and how could they be used today. A total of six people, two from sales and four from engineering, explained it to us in detail while projecting more than 40 pages of materials on a projector screen. That was very impressive!

We also explained our goal of creating and selling quality niche products that we can proudly say are made in Japan, rather than pushing the mass-produced stuff from other places around the globe. The Muratec people were surprised and sincerely asked if there is really a demand for such products.

It is often thought that it is apparel that creates fashion, but when fashion enthusiasts get together like this and discuss core aspects of the industry, it makes one feel that it is the efforts of those who are called "artisans" upstream that make diversity in fashion possible.
